In 1978, Roberto Geraldo Coelho Silva and Mauro Cunha, then retired District Attorneys, both intensely dedicated to University teaching, decided to face new challenges together, and founded the society of attorneys no. 086 of the Brazilian BAR Association – Section Rio Grande do Sul. Joining them were the collaborators Ana Cristina Nascimento and Alcides Augusto R. de Oliveira, creating the Roberto Geraldo Coelho Silva Law Firm, headquartered in the Pedro Chaves Barcellos Gallery, downtown Porto Alegre.
With the gradual development of the activities and the increasing demand, already in 1981, the then Academic Professor Fernando Luis Coelho Silva joined the office, as an intern. Soon afterwards, the lawyers Carlos Geraldo Coelho Silva and Sérgio Inácio Coelho Silva joined the office and in that same period, the office facilities were expanded the headquarters moved to the old Di Primio Beck Gallery, in front of the traditional Praça da Alfândega, in the downtown area of the state capital.
Initially focused on assisting individuals, in 1986, the office was renamed as Coelho Silva Advogados Associados. It was then consolidated the partnership among the brothers Sérgio Inácio, Carlos Geraldo, Fernando Luis and their father, Roberto Geraldo Coelho Silva. This new period was marked by the expansion in their area of activities, comprising corporate law, which later became the principal focus of their business, without ever neglecting the needs of individual clients.
